A GREAT LOSS FOR SUNSHINE SCHOOL
Sunshine School mourns the loss of CEO, Cindy Bilyeu.
On Saturday, July 18, 2020, Sunshine School lost our CEO, Cyndi Bilyeu. Her sudden passing was a shock to everyone who knew her, and we still cannot believe she is gone. Cyndi served as the CEO of Sunshine School for over eight years. During her time here, she impacted the lives of hundreds, working tirelessly to fulfill our mission. Cyndi poured her heart into her work, always willing to give her time, talent, and treasure to make Northwest Arkansas a better place.
CEO. Friend. Mentor. Servant. Leader. Mother. Fierce. Loyal. Kind. These were just some of her best traits. Cyndi was a passionate and fierce advocate for disability inclusion and used her position to fight for the clients and families that we serve. Her heart for children and adults with special needs was inspiring and desperately needed. Her passion created a ripple effect of inclusion and positivity throughout the community.
Cyndi’s heart for service extended beyond the walls of Sunshine School. She was an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals of NWA, and served for many years on the board for Down Syndrome Connection of NWA, a member of the DDPA board, and was an active member of the Rogers Rotary Club. She volunteered for many area nonprofits, always willing to lend a helping hand.
Cyndi was a pillar in the NWA community, a fierce advocate for those without a voice, a mom who loved her children without bounds, and a loving friend. It is still hard to imagine walking the halls of Sunshine School knowing she is not with us, but her legacy will live on in these halls where she touched the lives of so many.
