SUNSHINE SCHOOL & DEVELOPMENT CENTER PERSONNEL POLICIES & PROCEDURES

 

All employees are required to pass a series of criminal record checks at the time an offer of employment is made as well as every two or five years. These include the adult maltreatment central registry check and a child maltreatment central registry check. A state criminal record check which will also need to be renewed every five years which include an FBI criminal record check along with fingerprints.

All employees are required to pass a drug screen. A drug screen will be performed as part of

pre-employment. We will also perform a random drug screen if an employee displays abnormal

or erratic behavior training at any job.

​

All of our employees need to keep certain documents up to date in their personnel file.

For community support and transportation staff this includes your car insurance and driver's license.

For in-center staff this can be your state ID and no matter what your position your professional licenses, background checks, and CPR and first aid must remain up to date.

​

The safety and security of our team and clients is critical. Please keep cash or personal items properly secured. Ensure that unknown individuals do not fall behind you when entering the building and never give your security code to anyone else anyone who needs to get into the building will have a security code.

 

Consistent and regular attendance is essential if you know you'll be late or absent please notify

your supervisor as soon as you can. 2 consecutive scheduled workdays without notification is

cause for termination.

 

We conduct yearly performance reviews, you and your supervisor will meet to discuss performance strengths and weaknesses this is also an opportunity to give feedback and to receive feedback.

Sunshine School follows the progressive discipline model as a basis for discipline depending

on the severity of the offense.

​

Department supervisors or managers are not required to exclusively follow these steps disciplinary action may be escalated if warranted we also have a recommended grievance procedure. If an issue arises begin by speaking with your supervisor if you are not satisfied with their efforts or if it involves them you are welcome to voice your concerns to Human Resources and if you're not happy with any of that you are welcome to write an appeal to the Director.

Over time must be pre-approved.

 

There is absolutely no smoking on campus or near the building.

​

Breaks vary so to know when to take your break please consult with your supervisor.

 

If you have a second job or in some cases a third please in form Human Resources we want to make sure there isn't a conflict of interest. We also have a nepotism policy this means that you can work with family and we encourage it but you can't be each other's supervisors.

 

Sunshine Schools dress code is fairly casual but there are some limitations. Please do not wear ripped or torn clothing, shorts, dresses, and skirts shorter than four inches above the knee, any Beach style flip-flops, any clothing that is too tight or loose and exposed undergarments halters tank tops and garments with spaghetti straps garments that are backless low-cut or off-the-shoulder bathing suits unless participating in a water activity with clients particularly in the summer and again hopefully this is never an issue but any clothing that exposes the midriff.

We are paid bi-weekly every other Friday our pay cycle begins at 12 a.m. Saturday and ends at 11:59 p.m. Friday your paycheck is automatically deposited into your personal checking or savings account and your check stub is emailed to you.

 

Something that is important to note is that when you receive your check stub it will ask for a password your password will just be the last four of your social security number.

We offer numerous benefits for both full-time and part-time employees part-time employees have the ability to accrue vacation and sick leave as well as to paid holidays which is Christmas and fourth of July. Full-time employees receive these benefits as well as 401k retirement health vision dental and cancer insurance short and long term disability and bereavement leave.
