COVID COMMUNICATIONS

Hello Sunshine School Families!

As you know, guidelines and recommendations continue to change every day. We have been carefully considering and researching all information, including looking at county statistics of active cases. In addition, there has been an increase in testing capacity and now summer camps/programs are starting to open. Well over 1,000 childcare centers around the state have been open with no reported cases in either children or staff and DHS is recommending that childcare centers, with proper procedures, should begin to open up. With all of this in mind, we have our reopening plan in place. At any time, if information or recommendations change, we will reconsider these dates.

We are excited to let you know that plan to resume school on June 8, 2020 and look forward to seeing our Sunshine students . There are some new Child Care Licensing requirements, which include lower classroom ratios. Because of that we will have limited spots when we resume operation.

It is vital that we hear from each of you regarding your plans to return. If your child was previously enrolled in our Early Intervention Day Treatment Preschool Program, your child’s supervising teacher (ECDS) will be reaching out to you to confirm attendance starting June 8. ABC Families will receive separate instructions about returning. We must hear from you by Friday, May 29, 2020. Please email Karyn Walker at karyn.walker@nwasunshineschool.org about enrollment questions. If interest exceeds the number of classroom spots we have, we will be considering where students are in our program and not base enrollment on a “first come, first serve” basis.

We will have several changes to our policies and procedures to address new safety and sanitation issues related to COVID-19. These include drop off and pick up, building access and more. As we finalize these procedures, we will provide further communication.

Calendar update: We will not be closed for Summer Break this year. The only day we will be closed is July 3 for the Independence Day Holiday. The Calendar for the new school year July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2021 will be released soon.
