Dear Friends, In 2018 we celebrated 60 years of rich history! When you look back on all that has been accomplished in that amount of time, it’s amazing. Children and adults have become thriving members of our community and Sunshine School & Development Center has been a vital part of their journeys. My personal past with Sunshine School is because of my daughter, Piper Josie. She started at the center when she was 18 months old. She couldn’t crawl, she couldn’t eat, she couldn’t talk and she couldn’t even drink from a cup or a bottle. In her time there, she learned to do all of those things and so much more! New Classroom Opens the Door to Opportunity

EIGHT NEW SUNSHINE SCHOOL STUDENTS 2019 is full of exciting growth here at Sunshine School! We’ve opened a new preschool classroom and enrolled eight new students! CEO, Cyndi Bilyeu, says, “We are so excited that we are able to have the capacity to meet the needs of children in our community who require special education and therapies.” These eight new students now have access to all the therapy and special education services they need under one roof. “Some of the families had to travel to different locations to receive all the services that we can offer here in one place,” explains our Special Education manager, Karyn Walker, M.Ed. He is President of our Ray of Sunshine Foundation Board and, combined with his time on our Board of Directors, has dedicated over a decade of service to Sunshine School. AN INTERVIEW WITH JACQUELINE BETTIS Jacqueline has used Sunshine School’s supportive living services, through the Arkansas Medicaid Waiver program, since May of 2014. You may remember seeing her at Over the Edge in 2017 when she raised money for Sunshine School and went rappelling over the edge of the 8W Center.
