Behavioral and Mental Health Therapy

The Sunshine School & Development Center’s Social Work Department is proud to offer behavioral and mental health services. The Social Work department is new and funded by the United Way. The department is broken up into two primary parts: Behavioral and Mental Health services and Case Management services. Our Behavioral and Mental Health services are designed to assist in adjusting behaviors, and improving the emotional and mental well-being of the person.

Sunshine School’s Behavioral and Mental Health services include:

  • Individual therapy

  • Family therapy

  • Behavioral consultation

  • Behavioral management

  • Play Therapy with a Registered Play Therapist

    • Play Therapy is an evidenced-based, developmentally-appropriate therapeutic approach for children between 3-12 years-old. Children who have difficulty finding or are unable to use their voice can use play as their "language" to express themselves, process through their experiences, and resolve emotional difficulties.

This department’s services are provided by our full-time social worker, who is a Licensed Master Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist (LMSW, RPT). Our social worker is also certified in Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
